The requests are available to apply for the UN Nippon Foundation Training Program 2025 in Germany. This is a nine-month internship program in Hamburg, Germany, that is completely financed. The program will operate from 7 July 2025 to 31 March 2026.
This program invites applicants from growing nations operating on problems associated with the law of the sea, maritime law, or problem settlement. The scheme intends to develop the skills and deepen their understanding of disagreement settlement in the sea law under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). The internship program also includes visits to other European nations like the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, and Italy.
There is no request fee, and the Nippon Foundation protects all participant’s expenses, such as travel, housing, insurance, and allowance. Additional information is provided below:

Qualification Measures
- The scholarships are available to candidates from advancing nations.
- Participants are required to be between the ages of 25 to 40 years old.
- Law degree and indicated research capacity.
- Profession: Junior to mid-level government officers in ocean affairs and maritime law or researchers in ocean and marine legal problems.
- Research proposal: Is required to suggest a research topic necessary to their State’s UNCLOS execution (mostly part XV).
- Nomination: The nominating entity must clarify the candidate’s tasks and how the internship will benefit the institution and state.
- Language skills: Outstanding understanding of English or French and a working understanding of the other. English is the major language of teaching.
