No More Waiting: Ghana Reduces Visa Processing To 5 Days For Tourists In 2025

With a significant new visa guideline, Ghana is rolling out the path for foreign visitors and investors. The West African country has significantly reduced its most extended visa processing period to just five working days.

This new guideline, which takes effect immediately, is part of a strategic action to position Ghana as a top destination for tourists, business travelers, and investors.

The program was introduced by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ghana’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was part of President John Dramani Mahama’s promise to open the nation to foreign business at the time of his 2025 inaugural statement.

Ghana Visa Processing Duration

Before, visa requests for Ghana could take six weeks. With this new policy, the waiting duration is reduced to a maximum of five working days, providing foreign travelers with a much quicker and easier route to visiting the nation.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry aims to eliminate bureaucratic delays and streamline consular services, thereby enhancing Ghana’s competitiveness in the global tourism and investment sectors.

Quick Decisions, Not Automatic Authorizations

While the decreased processing duration is acceptable, visa authorizations will not be automatic. Every request will still undergo strict checks to ensure qualification and adherence to safety standards.

Candidates will receive a decision authorization or refusal within five working days, ensuring efficiency without compromising federal safety.
